About the position

The Technical Writer-Editor will serve in the Technical Requirements Branch of SWFLANT Kings Bay, focusing on the development and editing of technical documents and ensuring compliance with government requirements. This role involves preparing professional correspondence, reports, and presentations, as well as coordinating the establishment and maintenance of documentation related to technical requirements. The position supports the implementation of new technical advances and requires occasional travel.

Responsibilities

  • Apply knowledge of SWFLANT organization and operations to plan, evaluate, and monitor production operations.
  • Prepare professional correspondence, reports, charts, graphs, spreadsheets, documentation, and presentations.
  • Incorporate new technical advances and revised requirements into SWFLANT documentation to support implementation schedules.
  • Develop edits or obtain reviews for the timely establishment of new or revised technical requirements.
  • Prepare, edit, and coordinate the review of documentation related to compliance with government requirements.
  • Develop graphs, charts, and presentations to display inspection-finding status.
  • Track and coordinate responses to inspection findings in the assigned database.
  • Author, manage, direct, and coordinate changes to the SWFLANT Technical Program Manual and the Technical Department Operations Manual.
  • Consult on investigations concerning contractual and technical requirements.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the NH-2 (GS-11 equivalent) grade level.
  • Experience developing or editing technical documents, publications, or course materials to meet program requirements.
  • Ability to acquire and present technical information through independent reading, interviews, and observation of tests and experiments.
