About the position

The Technical Writer position at our electric utility client focuses on creating and maintaining documentation, training, and communication materials. This role is essential for ensuring that employees are informed and trained on critical information necessary for providing excellent customer service and complying with market and regulatory requirements. The position involves collaboration with stakeholders and oversight of content across various platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze content in various platforms (knowledgebase, digital adoption platform, mobile apps) to determine relevance and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders and team members to document processes, procedures, and communications accurately.
  • Produce quality documentation and software simulations appropriate for the intended audience.
  • Implement change management processes for document updates.
  • Format documentation and training into standardized templates and adhere to style guides.
  • Proofread and edit for grammar, spelling, and correct style usage.
  • Provide support for the knowledgebase, digital adoption platform, and SharePoint site; generate and analyze reports as needed.
  • Comply with regulations, company policies, procedures, work rules, and management expectations.
  • Adhere to guidelines regarding sensitive customer information and proprietary company information.

Requirements

  • Preferred Bachelor Degree with 2 years of experience in technical writing, communications, or related field, or high school diploma with 5 years of experience in technical writing, communications, or related field.
  • Ability to follow directions and receive constructive feedback.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills.
  • Self-starter, detail-oriented, dependable, highly motivated with the ability to work independently or collaboratively.
  • Ability to shift priorities and adjust focus as needed.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects within strict deadlines.
  • Strong experience in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
