About the position

The Technical Writer position is a hybrid role within the Network Operations team at Navy Federal, focusing on creating and managing technical documentation to support the team’s operations. The role involves collaborating with engineers and subject matter experts to develop user manuals, electronic tutorials, and standardized response procedures for high-priority alerts. The Technical Writer will also engage in quality assurance and lead small projects, ensuring that documentation is accurate, timely, and meets the needs of operators and service partners.

Responsibilities

  • Create and manage response procedures for operators to refer to when escalating high-priority alerts.
  • Research, gather, and synthesize data to present conclusions and recommendations.
  • Interview engineers and/or subject matter experts to obtain workflow and technical information.
  • Design, develop, and implement technical documents, including electronic training and user manuals.
  • Provide timely responses to operator inquiries and maintain detailed work notes.
  • Work collaboratively with support teams to implement process improvements.
  • Review work of others to ensure consistency and accuracy in documentation.
  • Lead small projects and serve as team spokesperson in project meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Excellent written communication skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Experience in developing technical documentation.
  • Fluency with industry-standard technical summary and reporting techniques.
  • Proven ability to quickly learn and understand complex subject matter.
  • Advanced skill in presenting information clearly and concisely.
  • Experience managing multiple priorities independently or in a team environment.
  • Advanced time-management and problem-solving skills.
  • Expert proficiency with MS Office Suite.
  • Experience creating/editing presentations using various software.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience maintaining SharePoint applications/pages.
  • Experience using OneNote.
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow.
  • Experience using SnagIt, Articulate 360, or similar instructional design tools.
  • Knowledge of Navy Federal's products, services, processes, and procedures.
  • Bachelor's Degree in English, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field.

Benefits

  • Competitive hourly wage between $50.00 and $60.00.
  • Hybrid work model with one day onsite per week.
