About the position

Amentum is seeking a cleared Technical Writer II to support an upcoming opportunity in Annapolis Junction, MD. This position is contingent upon contract award. The Technical Writer will play a crucial role in preparing and maintaining various types of documentation, including operations documentation, user guides, manuals, and technical publications. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of basic grammar concepts and be responsible for writing technical copy that is clear and comprehensible for a wide range of audiences. The Technical Writer will gather technical information and prepare written text, ensuring that all documentation is accurate and up-to-date. This includes maintaining a current internal documentation library and using multiple word processing and presentation tools such as MS Word, PowerPoint, and Visio. The candidate will work closely with developers to produce quality documentation and training materials, and will be involved in all phases of documentation. In addition to writing technical copy, the Technical Writer will prepare reports, responses, and briefings targeted to various audiences. They will coordinate the layout and design of documents, research highly technical subject matter, and organize information from multiple sources. The role requires the ability to express complex technical information in a way that is understandable to a broad audience. The Technical Writer will also interpret engineering and maintenance drawings and operational procedures to blend large quantities of computer-related information into coherent documentation. The position involves producing defense acquisition documentation, user manuals, training manuals, and other documentation utilized by the end-user community of DoD electronic equipment and systems. The Technical Writer will apply technical manual standards to all work products, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Must possess a U.S government Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility and a polygraph (TS/SCI w/ polygraph).
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university is required (Four (4) years of additional technical writing experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree).
  • Minimum six (6) years experience as a Technical Writer supporting programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required.
