Cambridge International Systems, Inc. has a full-time Technical Writer II opportunity available based in Charleston, SC. Qualified candidates for this job must possess a current DoD TS/SCI security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Write and edit technical reports, brochures, and/or manuals for internal documentation, customer reference, or publication.
  • Research and analyze available literature.
  • Verify copy with appropriate departments.
  • Coordinate production and distribution of materials.

Requirements

  • Must possess an active DoD TS/SCI security clearance.
  • Must be proficient in using different technologies such as computers and other tools and systems pertinent to the position.
  • Experience: Four (4) years with a degree or seven (7) years with a HS diploma/GED in revising or writing standardized material reports, manuals, briefs, proposals, instruction books, catalogs, and related technical and administrative publications.
  • Receives assignments and technical information from a supervisor or senior writer, may be provided notes or manuals containing operating procedures and details.
  • Able to access manufacturers' catalogs, drawings, and other data related to equipment operation, maintenance, and service.
  • May work with blueprints, sketches, drawings, parts lists, specifications, mockups, and product samples to integrate and delineate technology, operating procedures, and production sequences.
  • Organizes material and completes writing assignments according to set standards of order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology.
  • Maintains records and files of work and revisions.
  • Selects photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts to illustrate material.
  • Assists in laying out material for publication and arranges for typing, duplication, and distribution.
  • Capable of writing draft speeches, articles, public or employee relations releases, or specializing in writing materials related to work methods and procedures.
