The Technical Writer II position at Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation involves the development and revision of technical publications related to aircraft systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for using aircraft technical data to develop content that aids in the efficient return to service of aircraft, ensuring compliance with established quality processes throughout the workflow. In this role, the Technical Writer II will conduct thorough reviews and modifications of technical documents, participate in discussions with internal and external customers to gather source data, and provide input on new processes or technologies that could enhance the Technical Publications business model. The position also requires a strong understanding of aircraft systems and methodologies, as well as the ability to read and interpret engineering data. The candidate will be expected to support the development of solutions to resolve technical data challenges and perform other duties as assigned. This position is ideal for individuals with a background in technical writing, particularly in the aerospace sector, who are looking to contribute to the development of high-quality technical documentation that supports the operation and maintenance of advanced business jet aircraft.

Responsibilities

  • Develop technical content using aircraft technical data for efficient return to service of the aircraft.
  • Conduct reviews, analysis, and modification of technical documents to understand complex aircraft system operations.
  • Participate with the publications team to ensure adherence to department workflows and business processes.
  • Engage in discussions with internal and external customers to develop source data for technical publications.
  • Collaborate with Research and Development, Production, Completions Center, and Customer Support personnel to develop, review, and approve technical procedures.
  • Provide input to leadership on new processes or technology to enhance the Technical Publications business model.
  • Support the development of solutions to resolve technical data challenges.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
  • 2 years technical publications experience, including using industry standards to develop/revise technical documents in word processing applications.
  • Knowledge of basic aircraft system methodology or equivalent technology is preferred.
  • Intermediate understanding of general computer technology and typing skills is required.
  • An A&P license and 4 years of related aircraft experience may offset the degree.

Nice-to-haves

  • Preferred experience with Government programs aircraft technical writing with Flight Crew and Completion publications.
