About the position

Akkodis is seeking a Technical Writer III for a 12-month contract position with a client located in Austin, TX. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in planning, organizing, writing, and editing various types of documentation, including operational manuals, maintenance guides, test procedure manuals, and training materials. This role requires a strong ability to research technical design specifications, interface designs, design diagrams, and test specifications. Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for preparing proposals and technical reports, which is considered a significant advantage for applicants. The Technical Writer III will be tasked with acquiring and organizing basic source material, which includes applicable specifications, engineering write-ups, and drawing packages. The role also involves coordinating the layout and design of the documentation materials. Collaboration with systems analysts and programmers is essential to create and edit application and systems documentation, user manuals, training courses, and procedures. The position demands exceptional verbal and written communication skills, as well as expert knowledge of Excel and MS Word, with experience in MacOS being a requirement. This position offers a competitive hourly rate, which may be negotiable based on the candidate's experience, education, geographic location, and other relevant factors. Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, write, and edit operational, maintenance, test procedure manuals, or training materials.
  • Research technical design specifications, interface design, design diagrams, or test specifications.

  • Coordinate the layout and design of the documentation materials.

  • Prepare proposals and technical reports and collaborate with project managers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • Expert knowledge of Excel and MS Word.
  • Experience with MacOS.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with iOS.
