About the position

SCCI is seeking a motivated Technical Writer III to develop and edit Systems Engineering documents, Test Procedures, and User and Training Guides. This role is crucial for ensuring that technical information is accurately documented and communicated to operational communities. The position is available for immediate hire and is located in Dahlgren, VA, offering a comprehensive benefits package.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and relay technical information through the editing and development of engineering and user documentation.
  • Provide quality assurance, formatting, and editorial updates to various document types, including User and Training Guides, Installation and Test Procedures, and System Specifications.
  • Work closely with Systems Engineers, Software Developers, and Test Personnel to document technical content and system upgrades accurately.
  • Coordinate with document authors and team members in drafting, reviewing, and publishing technical documentation.
  • Manage tasking efficiently and meet deliverable timelines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Play a key role in the Rapid Development Process (RDP) of program documentation, ensuring required documents and revisions are provided with every software delivery.
  • Maintain knowledge of system capabilities, enhancements, and functionality in advance of system delivery to end-users.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain and maintain an active Secret Security Clearance.
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in a technical field or BS/BA in a non-technical field with demonstrated technical writing/communication skills; years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Five (5) years of general experience in proofreading, editing, and formatting of technical documentation.
  • One (1) year of specialized technical writing or editing experience for weapon systems or related programs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft (MS) Office products (Word, Visio, Excel, PowerPoint) with working knowledge of Visio drawing package.
  • Experience developing and applying MS Word and PowerPoint styles and templates.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating with document authors in the drafting, review, and publication of technical documentation.
  • Attention to detail in reviewing/auditing project documentation for content, formatting, consistency, and grammar.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, multitask, and manage priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to write clear, logically sequenced, and grammatically correct documents.
