About the position

Goldbelt Apex LLC is seeking a qualified Technical Writer to support the Department of Defense (DoD). This role is crucial in creating and maintaining technical documentation that ensures clarity and usability for various systems and applications. The Technical Writer will be responsible for writing technical materials, including system and application instruction manuals, standard operating procedures, release notes, system authorization boundary diagrams, and user guides. Additionally, the writer will create marketing materials such as brochures and information sheets specifically for DoD audiology applications, systems, and projects. The position may also involve assisting in layout work and organizing material to complete writing assignments according to established standards of order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology. The Technical Writer will ensure version control and file management, edit and standardize materials prepared by other writers or personnel, and review technical drawings or specifications to develop new artifacts. Coordination of logistics for productions or events, designing layouts for print publications, and selecting appropriate illustrations such as photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts to enhance the material are also key responsibilities. The writer must adhere to DoD security, classification, and public release policies and procedures to ensure proper handling and marking of documents. This position requires a strong commitment to quality and attention to detail, as the documentation produced will be used in critical healthcare IT systems.

Responsibilities

  • Write technical materials, such as system/application instruction manuals, standard operating procedures, release notes, system authorization boundary diagrams, and user guides.
  • Create marketing material (brochures and information sheets) for Department of Defense (DoD) audiology applications, systems, and projects.
  • Assist in layout work and organize material to complete writing assignments according to order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology standards.
  • Ensure version control and file management.
  • Edit, standardize, or update material prepared by other writers or establishment personnel.
  • Review details of technical drawings or specifications and develop new artifacts.
  • Coordinate logistics for productions or events.
  • Design layouts for print publications.
  • Select photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts to illustrate material.
  • Follow DoD security, classification, and public release policies and procedures to mark and handle documents properly.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant subject matter (Information Technology, Curriculum Design, Graphic Design, English or Medical) discipline.
  • Three years of experience in developing technical documents and manuals.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with Adobe Acrobat.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Familiarity with the software development life cycle.
  • Familiarity with document production and illustration software.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Visio (preferred).
  • Prior experience supporting DHA (preferred).
