About the position

Tyler Technologies is seeking a Technical Writer Intern to join our Cybersecurity team. This internship is designed for a committed and research-oriented individual who will be responsible for creating a comprehensive knowledge base and a detailed library of white papers focused on IT security and technology topics. The intern will gain valuable insights into the field of IT security while contributing to our team and clients by conducting extensive research and writing on relevant subjects. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with industry experts, enhancing both skills and professional connections. The internship can be conducted fully remotely; however, it requires in-person onboarding during the first week at one of our offices located in Maine or New Hampshire. The intern will engage with our advanced cybersecurity solutions, assisting various businesses in protecting and monitoring their network infrastructure. This role will involve developing sustainable and customized programs and processes aimed at defending our clients against cyberattacks and improving their overall cyber resiliency.

Responsibilities

  • Draft whitepapers and build a knowledgebase on current cybersecurity topics.
  • Assist in reviews of drafted reports, focusing on grammar and formatting checks.
  • Remain current on information security trends.
  • Actively participate in company, management, and team meetings.
  • Assist with product redevelopment, increasing efficiencies, adding automation, and modernizing the team's deliverables.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.

Requirements

  • Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively.
  • Prior experience writing research papers or similar publications is preferred.
  • Familiarity with academic and industry research methods.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.
  • Current student or recent college graduate in English, Technical Writing, Cybersecurity or related field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with NIST, CMMC, and PCI-DSS compliance is a plus.
  • Familiarity with COBIT, NIST CSF, ISO 27001, FAIR, OCTAVE, NIST RMF is a plus.
