About the position

The Technical Writer position in Manufacturing focuses on creating and improving manufacturing instructions for optical products. This role involves collaborating with various departments to ensure clear and effective documentation that enhances operational efficiency and training processes. The candidate will be responsible for producing detailed written and visual instructions, enabling video-based training, and modifying existing methods to minimize waste.

Responsibilities

• Create detailed and clear manufacturing instructions outlining each step of manufacturing operations.
• Enable video-based training and onboarding instructions to ease the manufacturing process.
• Modify existing methods to reduce scrap and improve rework cycles in collaboration with engineering.
• Access ITAR and other classified documents as required.
• Learn about document release and control processes.
• Work in a fast-paced environment to meet customer commitments.
• Perform any other responsibilities as assigned by the hiring manager.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• 2 or more years of experience in the distribution and creation of technical work instructions.
• Strong experience in technical writing with the ability to read complex technical drawings and specifications.
• Minimum supervision required for reading verbal instructions.
• 5 years of experience preferred in distribution and creation of technical work instructions.
• 5 years of experience preferred in reading technical drawings, written specifications, and verbal instructions.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in optical manufacturing processes.
• Familiarity with MIL and ISO standards for inspection.
