About the position

As a Technical Writer at Booz Allen Hamilton, you will play a crucial role in creating and refining technical documentation, user manuals, and various forms of sales and training literature. This position requires you to apply your functional knowledge and industry expertise to develop solutions for a range of problems that are moderate in scope and complexity. You will work independently, with some guidance, and will also be responsible for reviewing and guiding the activities of more junior employees in the team. Your contributions will ensure that all written deliverables meet the high standards expected by our clients and effectively communicate complex information in a clear and accessible manner. In this role, you will be expected to have a strong command of multiple writing style guides and requirements, as well as proficiency in the Microsoft Office product suite, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. You will perform thorough reviews of all written materials to assure quality and clarity, ensuring that the documents produced not only meet customer requirements but also educate and guide the reader effectively. Your expertise in client delivery processes, tradecraft, and intelligence standards will be essential in this capacity. To qualify for this position, you must be able to obtain a Secret clearance, which is a requirement for applicants selected for this role. A Bachelor's degree along with at least 3 years of experience in technical writing is necessary, or alternatively, you may qualify with 9 years of experience in technical writing in lieu of a degree. Additionally, experience in recommending and developing various types of technical documentation based on client needs will be beneficial. You should also possess the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences, which is vital for ensuring that all stakeholders understand the materials produced.

Responsibilities

  • Write and edit technical documentation, user manuals, and sales and training literature.
  • Develop or contribute to solutions for a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity.
  • Work independently with some guidance and review or guide activities of more junior employees.
  • Perform reviews and assure the quality of all written deliverables in support of a wide range of customer requirements.
  • Ensure the production of clear documents that guide and educate the reader.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of multiple writing style guides and requirements.
  • Proficiency in using the Microsoft Office product suite, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Ability to perform reviews and assure the quality of all written deliverables.
  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of experience in technical writing, or 9+ years of experience in technical writing in lieu of a degree.
