About the position

Quality Information Partners (QIP) is seeking a Technical Writer/Quality Control Associate to join our team for a complex federal contracting project. This full-time remote position requires a candidate with exceptional editing, documentation, and website/application testing skills. The successful candidate will collaborate with clients and various team leads to execute two primary functions: (1) performing various project-related technical writing tasks, and (2) implementing effective quality control, testing, and documentation processes. This includes reviewing project products and outcomes to ensure they meet federal agency standards and expectations. The position is contingent upon a contract award anticipated in Fall 2024, and applicants must reside in the Washington, DC metropolitan area, as no relocation benefits are offered. In this role, you will be responsible for writing, editing, and messaging highly specialized communications related to educational assessments, data, and other technical topics. You will support project colleagues and clients in crafting technically accurate yet understandable deliverables, including website content, reports, and compliance documents. Additionally, you will conduct quality assurance testing, usability assessments, and ensure compliance with Section 508 standards and cybersecurity protocols under the guidance of senior quality control leadership. Your ability to apply best practices in document development and quality control processes will be crucial in maximizing the quality and timeliness of project outcomes. This position offers a starting salary range of $60,000 to $70,000, depending on experience and certifications. As a virtual office community, QIP provides a flexible work environment, allowing you to perform your duties from your home office while occasionally traveling as required for project needs.

Responsibilities

  • Write, edit, and message highly specialized written communications relating to educational, assessment, data, and related technical topics.
  • Support project colleagues, stakeholders, and clients in crafting technically accurate, yet understandable, written website, report, and contract compliance deliverables.
  • Conduct quality assurance, usability, user acceptance, Section 508 compliance, web standard, and cybersecurity testing under the direction of senior QC leadership.
  • Assess website content, style/grammar, branding, and link integrity for a federal agency website development site.
  • Apply best practice document development and quality control (QC) processes across every phase of the project to maximize the quality and timeliness of project products and outcomes.
  • Monitor external contractor compliance with QC requirements for staging and publishing federal website content and applications.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of progressive technical writing, editing/proofreading, or quality assurance testing experience.
  • Ability to carry out and document written testing and communications requirements.
  • Capacity to learn and apply new QC processes, testing tools, and project standards.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, and other MS Office products.
  • Associate degree.

Nice-to-haves

  • Federal IT systems experience.
  • Experience using CMS templates for new content and reformatting existing pages.
  • Power BI or other tools used for analytics.
  • 508 compliance validation (i.e. JAWS or other related Screen Readers, Developer Tools).
