About the position

VetsEZ is looking for a full-time remote Technical Writer who will collaborate with development teams to support knowledge management programs. The role requires a blend of technical expertise and strong writing skills to produce high-quality technical documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate work activities and write/edit complex technical documents including presentations, manuals, reports, and specifications.
  • Develop and distribute communications related to core functions such as SDLC quarterly releases and process/policy changes.
  • Edit documentation for style, clarity, consistency, and adherence to customer guidelines.
  • Research complex technical concepts to edit policies, procedures, workflows, and manuals, and create new technical documents.
  • Conduct interviews with technical staff to gather data for documentation.
  • Collaborate with scrum masters, developers, and management to produce and maintain technical documentation for software products.
  • Document, communicate, and train processes to integrate into the organizational culture.
  • Evaluate and provide feedback on draft documents and participate in documentation reviews.
  • Self-motivate to engage with various levels of the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, computer science, or a related discipline.
  • 3-5 years of relevant technical writing experience.
  • Ability to interface with technical staff and end-users to understand functional requirements.
  • Experience with good documentation practices and proficiency in Microsoft software such as Word, Excel, Project, SharePoint, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Change Management and all phases of the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining technical documents for developers and training guides.
  • Previous software development experience.
  • Attention to detail and ability to produce professional-looking artifacts.
  • Ability to review old documentation and reach out for updates.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with VA Health Portfolio and Informatics Product Line.
  • Familiarity with HL7 and FHIR basics.
  • Experience working with software developers.
  • Experience creating various technical documents such as architecture artifacts, Business Process Models, and System Design Documents.
  • Technical Writing experience within the Healthcare Industry.
  • Ability to obtain a government clearance; active VA access is a plus.
