About the position

As a Technical Editor Senior at GDIT, you will play a crucial role in supporting the US Navy Training by researching, preparing, and editing technical documents. Your expertise will ensure that the documentation is not only accurate but also clear and accessible to various audiences. You will be responsible for reviewing and editing materials for punctuation, grammar, and content, while also identifying and modifying contextual errors. This role requires you to reorganize content and edit graphics, tables, and illustrations to enhance the overall quality of the documents produced. In addition to editing, you will develop processes for crafting and refining ideas, cultivating sources, and creating highly articulate articles. Collaboration is key in this position, as you will work closely with technical teams to deliver appropriate and complex content. Furthermore, you will provide guidance to less-experienced technical editor personnel, helping to foster a culture of learning and improvement within the team. Responsibilities

  • Researches, prepares, and edits technical documents
  • Reviews and edits material for punctuation, grammar, and content
  • Identifies and modifies contextual errors, reorganizes content, and edits graphics, tables, and illustrations
  • Develops the process for crafting and refining ideas, cultivating sources, and developing highly articulate articles
  • Collaborates closely with technical teams to deliver appropriate and complex content
  • Provides guidance to less-experienced technical editor personnel

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science degree
  • 5+ years of related experience
  • Training and certification in the use of documentation tools required by the Task order
  • Three (3) out of the last five (5) years as a technical writer supporting information systems technical activities
  • Two (2) years interpreting technical documentation standards and producing documents that conform to them
  • Two (2) years writing procedures in the imperative, in non-technical terminology, in a step-by-step style, and in detail suited to various audiences
  • Two (2) years using PC based documentation tools to prepare technical documentation
  • Security Clearance Level: Secret
  • U.S. Citizenship Required
