About the position

The Technical Writer position at Cyient involves the creation and maintenance of various operation and maintenance manuals specifically for the users and maintainers of the CBTC (Communications-Based Train Control) signaling system. This role requires the individual to prepare written text and coordinate the layout and organization of manuals and other documents in accordance with established outlines and specifications. The Technical Writer will be responsible for researching available technical data, which includes drawings, design reports, equipment specifications, and test specifications, to ensure the accuracy and comprehensiveness of the documentation produced. In this role, the Technical Writer will collaborate closely with engineers and other technical personnel from the customer side to clarify document contents and ensure that all necessary information is accurately captured. The position typically requires a Bachelor's degree and more than five years of experience in Technical Writing, particularly within the Rail Signaling system domain. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite to support Hitachi Signaling in the preparation of user and maintenance manuals and to provide training to trainees as needed. This is a full-time position with a day shift schedule from Monday to Friday, located in East Hartford, CT.

Responsibilities

  • Write various operation and maintenance manuals for the CBTC signaling system.
  • Prepare written text and coordinate layout and organization of manuals and documents according to prepared outlines and specifications.
  • Research available technical data including drawings, design reports, equipment, and test specifications.
  • Collaborate with engineers and technical personnel to clarify document contents.
  • Support Hitachi Signaling in the preparation of user and maintenance manuals.
  • Provide training to trainees as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • More than five years of experience in Technical Writing.
  • Experience with Rail Signaling systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Visio.
  • Strong document management skills.
