As a Technical Writer, you will leverage your writing skills to perform comprehensive technical writing tasks within a collaborative team of Systems Engineers, Software Engineers, and Infrastructure Analysts. Your responsibilities will include creative writing and document design, where you will communicate essential information through manuals that detail operational states and configuration steps. You will maintain current drafts on the systems' SharePoint page and work closely with the Integration, Verification, and Testing (IV&T) team to ensure that operational steps are clear and user-friendly. As a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in documentation, you will communicate project status, dependencies, risks, and issues to the Team Lead on a daily or weekly basis, ensuring that the internal Confluence page is updated with the latest revisions and document locations. Responsibilities

  • Creative writing and document design for technical manuals.
  • Maintain current drafts on the systems' SharePoint Page.
  • Work with the IV&T team to validate operational steps for clarity and usability.
  • Ensure technical document deliverables meet current documentation standards.
  • Serve as a documentation Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the project team.
  • Communicate project status, dependencies, risks, and issues to the Team Lead.
  • Keep the internal Confluence page updated with the latest revisions and document locations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of experience (10+ years preferred).
  • 10 years of experience in production and/or editing of technical documents, especially for non-technical audiences.
  • Experience providing Technical Writing support within Engineering teams.
  • Proficient in the latest release of Microsoft Office or equivalent products.
  • Ability to consolidate technical inputs and produce logical documents.
  • Ability to read and translate engineering drawings/specifications.
  • Ability to interpret and synthesize large quantities of technical information for non-technical readers.
  • Experience with relational databases and web authoring tools (Confluence).
  • Ability to create supporting graphics using tools like Figma, Adobe Creative, Lucid Charts, MS Visio.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Top Secret Clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • 10 years' experience in Technical Writing support within System Engineering teams developing system vulnerability assessments and evaluations.
  • Experience in media development for interactive communications and presentations.
