About the position

The Technical Writer at Rosenbauer South Dakota, LLC is responsible for developing comprehensive documentation that adheres to NFPA industry standards. This role involves translating complex product information into user-friendly content for various audiences, including the dealer network and internal teams. The Technical Writer will collaborate with multiple departments to ensure that all documentation is accurate, engaging, and meets the needs of the users.

Responsibilities

• Create user manuals, training guides, and process documentation for varied audiences.
• Develop comprehensive documentation that meets NFPA industry standards.
• Translate complex product information into simple, polished, and engaging content.
• Write user-friendly content for the dealer network, end users, and internal teams.
• Maintain detailed databases of reference materials, including research and design specifications.
• Evaluate current content and develop innovative approaches for improvement.
• Research, outline, write, and edit new and existing content.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Technical Service, Field Service, Production, Quality Control, and Training teams to understand project requirements.
• Revise and edit content in collaboration with development and support leads.
• Create and maintain information architecture templates that uphold organizational and legal standards.
• Develop content in alternative media forms for maximum usability with a consistent voice across all documentation.

Requirements

• Associate degree or certification in Technical Writing or a similar field required.
• Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing or a similar field preferred.
• Experience with Microsoft & Adobe (Word, PowerPoint, Photoshop) required.
• 2+ years of experience working as a Technical Writer preferred.
• Experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Experience with DITA or Topic-Based Authoring preferred.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience conducting interviews with subject matter experts (SMEs).
• Ability to write reports and business correspondence professionally.
• Proficiency in navigating content management systems (CMS) and editing tools.
