About the position

The Technical Writer at Ramy Infotech Inc. plays a crucial role in the documentation process, reporting directly to the Sr. Director of Technical Delivery. This position is responsible for creating a variety of technical documents, including technical design documents, operating instructions, how-to manuals, and technical support instructions. The Technical Writer will also develop content for frequently asked questions aimed at technical staff, business analysts, and support personnel. A key aspect of this role is the ability to discuss, comprehend, and document complex technical information, which encompasses areas such as database design, data management, systems integration, application development, and technology architecture. In addition to writing and revising technical documents, the Technical Writer will collaborate closely with technical teams to gain a thorough understanding of the purpose and architecture of various systems. This role requires maintaining consistency in technical content across multiple departments, including application development, quality assurance, user testing, cyber security, business operations, sales, and marketing. The Technical Writer will also be responsible for creating visual references such as graphs, charts, and flow diagrams to enhance document accuracy and usability. Eliciting feedback to update and improve existing content is also a critical function of this position. The Technical Writer is expected to build industry knowledge and develop an understanding of the organization and objectives of various business divisions. This includes maintaining a strong knowledge of technical products and environments, as well as understanding the strategic direction of the company. The role demands strong research and knowledge elicitation skills, a detail-oriented mindset, and the ability to work effectively with technical teams, including architects, developers, and quality assurance personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Write or revise technical documents for applications, systems integrations, and databases
  • Work closely with technical staff to understand the purpose and technical architecture of multiple systems
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of technical products and environments
  • Edit and enhance material prepared by technical architecture and development staff
  • Create or incorporate visual references (graphs, charts, flows, etc.) to increase document accuracy and usability
  • Elicit feedback to update and improve existing content
  • Build industry knowledge and develop understanding of business divisions' organization and objectives
  • Maintain an understanding of technical assets and strategic direction.

Requirements

  • 5 years of experience in technical writing
  • Strong research and knowledge elicitation skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, and MS SQL
  • Experience with Microsoft application development tools (C#, Visual Studio, Git, Azure DevOps/TFS)
  • Understanding of SaaS infrastructure architecture (Azure, AWS)
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience is desired
  • Curious, detail-oriented, and interested in learning
  • Ability to work well with technical teams (architects, developers, quality assurance, etc.)
