About the position

The Technical Writer position requires a senior Java developer skill set, focusing on writing quality technical specifications and documentation. The role involves collaborating with IT project stakeholders to gather requirements and create detailed written instructions, while also being flexible to work with various technologies. This hybrid role is based in Lansing, MI, requiring in-person attendance two days a week.

Responsibilities

• Read and write code as part of the System Analyst role.
• Write quality technical specifications, familiar with Swagger.
• Design and implement Java MVC frameworks and ORM tools.
• Develop systems with Microsoft SQL Server and write SQL queries and stored procedures.
• Perform analysis and requirements gathering with customers.
• Create business process models within the process modeling methodology framework.
• Prepare detailed written instructions and technical documentation using industry best practices.

Requirements

• Senior Java developer skill set required.
• Considerable knowledge of Java, J2EE, WebSphere development technologies, ASP.Net, and .Net 6.0.
• Experience with design patterns and organizing algorithms.
• Experience in developing systems with Microsoft SQL Server (SQL 2016 or higher).
• Experience with Object Oriented Analysis, design, and programming.
• Experience with application and database development and access methods.
• Experience with Corticon Rules Engine technology and WebSphere Liberty.
• Experience with Git, Junit, Selenium, Cucumber, Maven, and security frameworks like JWT and Oauth.
• Experience with OpenShift, Docker, Kubernetes, Azure DevOps, and Jenkins.

Nice-to-haves

• Familiarity with Angular, React, and other technologies as identified through discovery.
• Experience with Content Management Knowledge (e.g., Filenet).
• Ability to work under pressure and tight timelines.
