About the position

SAIC is seeking a Technical Writer/Editor for the Joint Expeditionary Command and Control (JEXC2) program in Panama City Beach, FL. The role involves developing high-quality documentation that meets customer and end-user needs, including technical manuals, user manuals, and training materials. The Technical Writer will interpret engineering drawings, apply technical writing concepts, and ensure documentation adheres to government specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Develop high-quality documentation with minimal guidance that complies with standards and meets customer needs.
  • Produce defense acquisition documentation, user manuals, and training manuals for DoD electronic equipment and systems.
  • Interpret engineering and maintenance drawings to blend large quantities of technical information.
  • Apply technical writing concepts based on engineering documentation and consultations with engineers and subject matter experts.
  • Perform desktop publishing support for technical documentation.
  • Create and manipulate charts and diagrams for inclusion in documentation.
  • Create and maintain XML schema, templates, and conversion tables.
  • Research, collect, analyze, and prepare technical information and data.
  • Edit technical documentation for format, accuracy, clarity, and consistency.
  • Use multiple word processing and presentation tools such as MS Word, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Schedule and participate in project meetings and validation events.
  • Create and maintain trackers for planning and scheduling purposes.
  • Prepare photographs for documentation, including color correction and resizing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and three years of related experience, or a Master's degree and one year of related experience.
  • Experience performing technical writing for secured documentation at a secured location.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Professional or similar tools.
  • Experience in writing technical training materials.
  • Strong grammatical and spelling skills with the ability to describe technical information clearly.
  • Experience supporting and communicating with senior stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with computer support, video technology, and distance learning.
  • Experience utilizing SharePoint/iCenter for records management.
