About the position

As a Technical Writer at Actalent, you will play a crucial role in executing the document creation and revision process for facility standards and other essential documents that support operational readiness, the Learning & Development team, and Quality partners. You will serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the local change control process, facilitating the revision of standards and document iterations. Your responsibilities will include interfacing with other technical writers and SMEs on equipment and processes, as well as supporting document owners throughout the writing process. This support will encompass language usage, the document revision process, the change control process, and the related tools necessary for effective documentation management. In this position, you will be responsible for writing and managing deviations, ensuring that all documentation is accurately maintained. You will provide specialist knowledge on the writing process to enhance understanding of the appropriate document types, structure, style, and language usage for operational documents. Coaching document owners in effective communication and adherence to standards in operational documents will also be a key part of your role. You will collaborate with other process groups to support the document processing of revisions to facility-level documents, ensuring that projects are completed within established metrics and timelines. Your proactive engagement in systematic problem-solving activities will be essential as you collaborate on solutions regarding document processes and quality compliance. Additionally, you will be expected to follow all safety and environmental requirements in the performance of your duties. Other accountabilities may be assigned as needed, making this a dynamic and integral position within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Execute the document creation & revision process for facility standards and other documents.
  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the local change control process.
  • Interface with other technical writers and SMEs on equipment/processes.
  • Support document owners in the writing process with language usage and document revision.
  • Write and manage deviations and all documentation management.
  • Provide specialist knowledge on the writing process to ease understanding of document types, structure, style, and language usage.
  • Coach document owners in good communication and standards in operational documents.
  • Support the document processing of revisions to appropriate facility level documents in collaboration with other process groups.
  • Develop and maintain internal and external stakeholder relationships.
  • Ensure projects are completed with metrics and timelines realized.
  • Engage proactively in systematic problem-solving activities and collaborate on solutions regarding document processes and quality compliance.
  • Follow all safety and environmental requirements in the performance of duties.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in technical writing and creation of new documents.
  • Experience in an expansion environment (greenfield or brownfield) is critical.
  • Familiarity with industrial utilities equipment, such as boilers and chillers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Self-motivated and a critical thinker, able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to seek out work and drive actions forward.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree is acceptable but not required.
  • Exposure to Veeva Vault or Excel would be a bonus.
  • Pharma experience would be preferred but not required.
