About the position

ARES is seeking skilled technical writer candidates to support the digital engineering and transformation of United States Space Force launch range assets and infrastructure. This role is crucial in ensuring that all technical documentation is accurate, comprehensive, and up-to-date. The technical writer will be responsible for updating a variety of reports, manuals, briefs, proposals, instructions, and related technical and administrative publications. These documents will support a range of work methods and procedures related to the installation, operation, and maintenance of Space Force assets. The position requires a keen attention to detail and the ability to convey complex information in a clear and concise manner, making it accessible to various stakeholders. The technical writer will work closely with engineers, project managers, and other technical staff to gather information and ensure that all documentation reflects the latest standards and practices. This role may involve conducting interviews, reviewing technical data, and collaborating with team members to produce high-quality documentation that meets the needs of the Space Force. Positions are available at both Patrick Space Force Base in Florida and Vandenberg Space Force Base in California, with multiple levels of the position available to accommodate varying levels of experience and expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Update reports, manuals, briefs, proposals, instructions, and related technical and administrative publications.
  • Support the installation, operation, and maintenance activities of Space Force assets through comprehensive documentation.
  • Collaborate with engineers and project managers to gather information for documentation.
  • Ensure all technical documents are accurate, clear, and adhere to applicable standards and regulations.
  • Conduct interviews and review technical data to produce high-quality documentation.

Requirements

  • Experience supporting a Department of Defense environment, including applicable terminology, regulations, and policy.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of tools, particularly Word and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
