About the position

The IT Technical Writer will be responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining documentation related to applications, websites, and programs. This role involves collaborating with stakeholders to ensure accurate and user-friendly documentation that meets specified standards. The position requires a strong background in technical writing, particularly in IT environments, and the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear language.

Responsibilities

  • Create, update, and maintain application, website, and program-related documentation.
  • Work with stakeholders and technical owners to generate or revise documents as necessary.
  • Update document repositories and standardize document naming conventions.
  • Review, format, and proofread technical procedure documents for final approval.
  • Produce high-quality documentation appropriate for its intended audience.
  • Document procedures, use cases, requirements, and technical designs.
  • Create process flows, networking, and infrastructure diagrams.
  • Collaborate with a team of analysts, developers, engineers, and IT security professionals.
  • Resolve content issues or gaps with contributors.
  • Organize material and complete writing assignments according to specified standards.
  • Work with subject matter experts to ensure accurate communication of policies and procedures.
  • Translate technical source materials into user-friendly language.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, communications, technical writing, computer science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of three years of demonstrable experience in technical writing, preferably in an IT environment.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills with the ability to produce clear and concise documentation.
  • Strong technical aptitude and comfortability with complex technical concepts.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior experience with IT systems, software development, or networking.
  • Understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
