The Technical Writer will work under minimal supervision, engaging in a variety of tasks that include researching, developing, writing, revising, and editing content for printed materials and all supporting documentation. This role is crucial in ensuring that all technical publications adhere to standard guidelines and are accessible to the intended audience. In this position, the Technical Writer will be responsible for interviewing programmers, engineers, developers, and other technical personnel to gather in-depth knowledge of product technology and development methods. This collaborative approach is vital for producing accurate and comprehensive documentation. The writer will also be tasked with reviewing, editing, and proofreading the work of lower-level technical writers, ensuring that all materials meet the high standards expected in technical publications. The ability to adapt to frequent changes in workload and adjust priorities quickly is essential for success in this dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Research, develop, write, revise, and edit content for printed materials and supporting documentation.
  • Interview programmers, engineers, developers, and other technical personnel to acquire knowledge of product technology and development methods.
  • Gather and research technical information for use in documentation activities.
  • Prepare written documents following standard guidelines for technical publications.
  • Review, edit, and proofread work and materials developed by lower-level technical writers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Technical Writing, or a similar field.
  • Five (5)+ years of technical writing experience.
  • Intermediate knowledge in word processing software including MS Word and Adobe.
  • Ability to write concise, logical, and grammatically correct documentation.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as schematics, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and safety rules.
  • Ability to adapt to frequent changes in workload and adjust priorities quickly.
