About the position

The Technical Writer 3 position at ACS Professional Staffing involves providing documentation and technical writing support to the Safety Organization Internal Operations. The role requires collaboration with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and various stakeholders to draft, edit, and maintain safety management system documentation, policies, procedures, and reports. The position also includes transcribing meeting correspondence and managing agendas for committees, ensuring timely completion of tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with NFB team members, SMEs, and stakeholders to understand safety documentation requirements.
  • Produce documents that meet company and safety consensus standards appropriate for the intended audience.
  • Conduct technical interviews to gather knowledge for documentation.
  • Draft and establish technical documents in collaboration with NFB personnel and stakeholders.
  • Support the maintenance of the Safety and Occupational Health Manual (SOHM) through scheduled reviews and edits.
  • Maintain the Accident Prevention Manual (APM) through content reviews and edits with stakeholders.
  • Support the Contractor Safety and Health Requirements for Prime and Subcontractors (CSHRPS) through scheduled content reviews and edits.
  • Elicit user and support requirements to understand complex business systems and interdependencies.
  • Draft requirements in a clear and technically accurate form based on end users' backgrounds.
  • Communicate technical information to various business experts in individual and group settings.
  • Research and analyze workflow and processes for safety programs to enhance accessibility and usability.
  • Document, edit, review, organize, present, and publish safety program information.
  • Maintain records and files of all work and revisions, ensuring compliance with standards.
  • Provide professional note-taking services for assigned committees and meetings, including drafting meeting notes and action items.

Requirements

  • An associate or bachelor's degree in journalism, technical writing, safety & occupational health, or a closely-related technical discipline is preferred.
  • 6 years of experience is required with an applicable bachelor's degree.
  • 8 years of experience is required with an applicable associate degree.
  • 10 years of experience and formal training in communications, English, or technical writing is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications for creating documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and diagrams is required.
  • Demonstrated experience with technical writing in a safety and occupational health environment.
  • Effective technical interviewing skills.
  • Advanced ability to organize and present information in various forms.
  • Demonstrated understanding of safety and occupational health environment.
