About the position

Digitech Systems, LLC is seeking a full-time Technical Writer/Documentation Specialist to join our development team. The role involves creating and maintaining software and service product manuals, online help, and other documentation for both technical and non-technical users. Technical Writers at Digitech play a crucial role in the software development lifecycle, providing essential feedback and ensuring high-quality documentation that supports our products.

Responsibilities

  • Designing, gathering content, authoring, and maintaining documents, online help, technical white papers, release notes, and other documentation media for commercial software products and online services.
  • Collaborating with software developers, quality assurance analysts, and other stakeholders to understand product technologies, features, and limitations.
  • Writing, editing, and creating layout standards for product manuals, online help, release notes, and other documentation media.
  • Developing processes, templates, and other structures for maintaining reusable documentation and help materials.
  • Coordinating documentation reviews with developers to ensure accuracy of documentation and help materials.
  • Researching new technologies and techniques to ensure that company projects use state-of-the-art documentation methodologies and tools.
  • Participating in all phases of the software development lifecycle including project planning and reporting any software defects.
  • Evaluating current content and developing innovative approaches and suggestions for improvement.
  • Participating in the development team scrum process, specifically active contribution in team meetings and gathering/clarifying software specifications and implementations to ensure timely and accurate completion of product documentation for each sprint.
  • Completing special projects as needed.

Requirements

  • A degree in technical writing or four years' experience documenting desktop and web software applications.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with excellent grammar.
  • Detail-oriented and able to work with limited supervision.
  • Proficient with MadCap Flare help-authoring software, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), and all Microsoft operating systems.
  • Experience with source code control tools (e.g., Visual SourceSafe or Surround SCM) and defect tracking systems (Helix or equivalent).

Nice-to-haves
