About the position

The Technical Writer position involves providing consultative services and creating as well as publishing technical documentation and manuals. The role requires the collection and interpretation of technical data or information, along with coordinating layouts for publication. The Technical Writer will be responsible for writing and editing a variety of technical documents, including business proposals, reports, user manuals, briefings, presentations, functional descriptions, system specifications, guidelines, special reports, and other project deliverables to ensure compliance with contract requirements. In this role, the Technical Writer will develop outlines and drafts for review and approval by technical specialists and project management. It is essential that the final documents meet applicable contract requirements and regulations. The position also involves researching and gathering technical and background information for inclusion in project documentation and deliverables. The Technical Writer will consult various information sources, including library resources, technical and financial documents, and client and project personnel, to obtain background information and verify pertinent guidelines and regulations governing project deliverables. Regular and punctual attendance is a requirement, and the Technical Writer may be assigned additional duties as needed. This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Writes and/or edits technical documents, including business proposals, reports, user manuals, briefings and presentations, functional descriptions, system specifications, guidelines, special reports, and other project deliverables to meet contract requirements.
  • Develops outlines and drafts for review and approval by technical specialists and project management, ensuring that final documents meet applicable contract requirements and regulations.
  • Researches and gathers technical and background information for inclusion in project documentation and deliverables.
  • Consults relevant information sources, including library resources, technical and financial documents, and client and project personnel, to obtain background information, and verify pertinent guidelines and regulations governing project deliverables.
  • Maintains regular and punctual attendance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Four (4) years of related experience required.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop technical documentation.
  • Must obtain and maintain any necessary security access and/or background checks.
