About the position

ECS is currently seeking a meticulous and creative Technical Writer to join our team remotely. This position is contingent upon additional funding. The Technical Writer will work closely with clients, stakeholders, and other contract staff to gather content, develop written documentation, and collaborate with a team towards the successful completion of written artifacts and deliverables. The role involves authoring, creating, editing, and proofreading documentation such as user guides and job aids. The Technical Writer will also populate templates with boilerplate language, relevant content, and utilize style tools (e.g., automated table of contents, style tools from Word, etc.). Additionally, the Technical Writer will develop written content for web pages and interview subject matter experts to extract pertinent information for document creation on a variety of subjects. The Technical Writer will be responsible for creating documents and manuals in line with the branding and documentation guidelines. They will partner with other teams, such as content writers and stakeholders, to develop comprehensive documentation. The role also includes documenting business processes in a consistent format and structure, ensuring that the information is presented in an easily digestible format and is readily available to all users. The Technical Writer will maintain responsibility for the delivery of work products and collaborate on the implementation of standardized processes and deliverables.

Responsibilities

  • Author/create, edit, and proofread documentation such as user guides and job aids.
  • Populate templates with boilerplate language, relevant content, and style tools.
  • Develop written content for web pages.
  • Interview subject matter experts to extract pertinent information for document creation.
  • Create documents/manuals in line with branding and documentation guidelines.
  • Partner with other teams to develop documentation.
  • Document business processes in a consistent format and structure.
  • Maintain responsibility for the delivery of work products.
  • Collaborate on the implementation of standardized processes and deliverables.

Requirements

  • Must have US Citizenship.
  • Must successfully complete a stringent background investigation and obtain the required government security clearance.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust.
  • Bachelor's Degree or additional years of experience.
  • 7+ years' experience authoring, revising, and editing technical documentation.

Nice-to-haves

  • 3+ years' experience working with Federal Customers.
  • 2+ years' experience with Office 365 applications.
  • Ability to summarize content information using graphical and textual tools.
  • Familiarity with private sector and/or federal government Human Resources business processes.
  • Experience with Agile development practices.
  • Excellent analytical and business presentation skills.
