About the position

The Technical Writer will play a crucial role in creating and maintaining technical documentation for a large-scale Engineering, Repair, and Logistics company that services the largest wireless telecommunications providers in the country. This position is a 3-month project that requires a detail-oriented individual who can effectively communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner. The Technical Writer will be responsible for determining the needs of end users of technical documentation, ensuring that the materials produced are user-friendly and accessible. In this role, the Technical Writer will study product samples and engage with product designers and developers to gather necessary information. They will collaborate with technical staff to simplify product usage, thereby reducing the need for extensive instructions. The writer will organize and create supporting documents for various products and services, utilizing a range of media including photographs, diagrams, animations, and videos to enhance user understanding. The Technical Writer will also be tasked with selecting the appropriate medium for conveying messages to different audiences, whether through manuals, online videos, or other formats. Standardization of content across platforms and media will be essential to maintain consistency. Gathering usability feedback from customers, designers, and manufacturers will be a key part of the revision process, ensuring that all documents meet the highest standards of clarity and usability. The writer will create a variety of instructional materials, including operating instructions, how-to manuals, assembly instructions, flow-charts, and FAQ pages to assist technical support staff and other users within the company or industry. Conducting thorough research on relevant topics through personal observation, internet research, and discussions with technical specialists will also be a critical component of this role.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Technical writing experience in an engineering computer environment
  • Experience and familiarity with forward and reverse logistics
  • Ability to create documents, presentations, manuals, videos, and flow charts
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, English, or communications
  • Knowledge in a specialized field, such as engineering or computer science.
