About the position

The Mid-Level Technical Writer will be responsible for creating and maintaining high-quality documentation that effectively communicates complex financial concepts and processes to diverse audiences. This role involves collaboration with subject matter experts, compliance teams, and product managers to develop user manuals, online help, process documentation, and training materials for banking products and services.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain documentation for banking products and services, including user guides, API documentation, policy manuals, and training materials.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, understand product functionality, and translate technical information into clear, concise documentation.
  • Create visual aids such as diagrams, flowcharts, and screenshots to enhance documentation and improve user understanding.
  • Review and edit documentation created by other team members for accuracy, consistency, and compliance with corporate standards.
  • Ensure all documentation is up to date and reflects the latest product enhancements and regulatory changes.
  • Participate in meetings with product and compliance teams to identify documentation needs and gather feedback on existing materials.
  • Stay current on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in technical writing and banking processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in technical writing, preferably in the banking or financial services industry.
  • Strong understanding of banking products, regulatory requirements, and financial processes.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into user-friendly language for diverse audiences.
  • Proficient in technical writing tools and software (e.g., MadCap Flare, Adobe FrameMaker, Microsoft Word, Visio).
  • Experience with content management systems and documentation standards.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with Agile methodology and experience working in an Agile environment.
  • Knowledge of data privacy standards and regulatory requirements in the banking industry (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
  • Experience in creating documentation for software applications or financial technology platforms.
