About the position

The Technical Writer position is a contract role based in Raleigh, NC, requiring temporary assistance in the design, development, and implementation of policies, procedures, and training materials specifically for Information Technology staff. This role is crucial in relation to the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and the adaptation of ITIL v3. The assignment is expected to last for 12 months, with a commitment of 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, and the work will be conducted remotely. In this role, the Technical Writer will support the IT Business Transformation Analyst by focusing on the creation and enhancement of training materials that align with the SDLC and the five stages of the ITIL v3 Service Lifecycle. The responsibilities include not only the development of new training content but also the maintenance and updating of existing materials to ensure they remain relevant and effective. The selected candidate will be tasked with developing e-learning modules and will collaborate directly with IT staff to assess their training needs, ensuring that the materials created are tailored for both current employees and the onboarding of new IT staff.

Responsibilities

  • Support the IT Business Transformation Analyst in designing and developing policies and procedures for IT staff.
  • Focus on the Software Development Life Cycle and the ITIL v3 Service Lifecycle's five stages.
  • Develop new training materials and maintain existing training content as needed.
  • Create e-learning modules for IT staff training.
  • Work directly with IT staff to understand their training needs and develop appropriate materials.

Requirements

  • Strong writing skills and technical knowledge (7 years required).

  • Working knowledge of English language structure, composition, and grammar (7 years required).
  • Ability to assess resources for accuracy and extract relevant data from large information sets (7 years required).
