About the position

The Technical Writer position at Parsons Corporation involves collaborating with colleagues and partners, particularly the U.S. Space Force, to support critical applications for national defense. The role emphasizes technical writing skills, allowing the writer to engage with various project teams, enhancing their expertise while contributing to mission-focused documentation efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Creative writing and document design, communicating 'how-to', 'next steps' and 'in-depth' configuration and operational state manuals
  • Maintain the current draft(s) on the systems' SharePoint Page
  • Work with the IV&T team to validate operational steps are easy to understand and use
  • Ensure technical document deliverables are developed using the most current documentation standards
  • Serve as a documentation SME to the project team
  • Communicate status, dependencies, risks and issues daily/weekly to the Team Lead
  • Keep internal Confluence page and log updated with the latest revision and location of documents

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree and 8+ years of experience (10+ highly preferred)
  • 10 years experience in production and/or editing of technical documents, including writing for non-technical audiences
  • Experience providing Technical Writing support within Engineering teams
  • Experienced user of the latest release of Microsoft Office (or equivalent) products
  • Ability to consolidate technical inputs and analyses, and produce a logical, understandable document
  • Ability to read and 'translate' engineering drawings/specifications
  • Ability to interpret, absorb, and synthesize large quantities of engineering or technical information for non-technical readers
  • Ability to enter technical studies, metadata, and data into relational databases
  • Ability to upload content onto websites using COTS web authoring tools (Confluence)
  • Ability to create supporting graphics (Figma, Adobe Creative, Lucid Charts, MS Visio, etc.)
  • Ability to integrate existing graphics into documents using various COTS tools
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Top Secret Clearance

Nice-to-haves

  • 10 years' experience providing Technical Writing support within System Engineering teams developing system vulnerability assessments and evaluations
