About the position

As a technical writer at GUARD, you will work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment collaborating with business analysts and fellow technical writers to develop, innovate, and enhance system user guides specifically designed for GUARD employees. This role is pivotal in ensuring that the documentation produced is not only accurate but also effective in conveying the necessary information to users. You will be responsible for writing and refining system documentation, which is crucial for the understanding and utilization of GUARD's proprietary insurance software. In this position, you will have the opportunity to engage in a creative environment where your contributions will directly impact the quality of documentation. The role requires a proactive approach to updating and improving existing documentation based on system changes, as well as creating new entries to document new products, system functionalities, and lines of business. Collaboration is key, as you will work closely with subject matter experts (SMEs) and other technical writers to continuously enhance the documentation process. Additionally, you will assist the Supervisor of Documentation with various job responsibilities as assigned, ensuring that all documentation meets the highest standards of quality and clarity. Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain documentation for Topic Help, GUARD's users guide for the company's proprietary insurance software.
  • Update and improve documentation based on system changes and create new entries to document new products, system functionalities, and lines of business.
  • Collaborate with SMEs and other technical writers to continuously improve documentation.
  • Assist the Supervisor of Documentation with other job responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Experience writing user guides for a similar product or industry.
  • Understanding of the principles and practices of technical writing, content, and archive management/versioning is preferred.
  • Experience with Adobe RoboHelp, XML/DITA, or similar authoring systems is preferred.
  • Familiarity with basic CSS code is a plus.
  • Proficient in English, attentive to industry standards, and equipped with excellent grammatical and editorial skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, and adapt easily to changing project requirements and schedules.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Adobe RoboHelp, XML/DITA, or similar authoring systems is preferred.
  • Familiarity with basic CSS code is a plus.
