Candidates should be adaptable, eager to learn, and capable of thriving in a fast-paced, time-sensitive financial and technical environment. Interns will enjoy a flexible work schedule, with the option to work two days remotely and three days in the office each week at one of our state-of-the-art locations in Chicago, Kansas City, or New York City. The Technical Writing and Incident Management intern will be a vital member of Cboe's Specialized Operations team, gaining a fundamental understanding of financial exchange technology and market structure. This role involves acquiring industry-standard incident management skills, providing support through investigation, documentation, record management, reporting, and process improvement. Interns will also develop collaboration and organization skills, become familiar with documentation technology, and create high-quality customer communications. Additionally, they may participate in ongoing Operations Project Management and Training Content Development projects.

Responsibilities

  • Engage in active incident investigations during actual events and throughout the post-event incident lifecycle.
  • Participate in blameless culture post-incident learning review meetings, documenting incident details, lessons learned, and action items.
  • Collaborate with global Cboe Operations personnel on Incident Management-related duties and follow-up items.
  • Contribute to the standardization of Cboe's global Incident Management process, escalating opportunities for improvement and implementing changes where appropriate.
  • Draft and edit Trade Desk notices and technical specifications, incorporating feedback from Legal, Engineering, Operations, and Business staff.
  • Review and update formatting, structure, and voice within technical specifications.
  • Complete Jira tickets as assigned, including general tech writing help, drafting notices, or updating technical specifications.
  • Provide support for ongoing Training Content Development and/or Operations Project Management projects as opportunities arise.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in a STEM (Computer Science and/or Mathematics), Communications, English, Journalism, or related major.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new systems, processes, and technologies quickly.
  • Experience with, knowledge of, or strong interest in learning about computer science, computer networking, computer programming, and/or data center architecture.
