About The Position

The Technician Apprentice Program at Caliber Collision is designed for individuals looking to gain hands-on experience in vehicle repair. The program focuses on training apprentices to assist Body Technicians in repairing vehicles thoroughly, safely, and profitably, adhering to industry standards and company guidelines. Apprentices will learn essential skills in vehicle disassembly, repair processes, and the use of various tools and equipment while ensuring compliance with safety protocols.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be eligible for coverage under Caliber's insurance policy.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with others.
  • Ability to read and understand instructions, written estimates, and work orders.
  • Multi-tasking skills and adaptability to a fast-paced environment.
  • Personable and friendly demeanor with a focus on customer service.
  • Maintain a well-groomed appearance.

Responsibilities

  • Complete dis-assembly of vehicles to assist Service Advisors in preparing a 100% Repair Plan.
  • Identify all needed repairs to eliminate supplements and minimize repair time.
  • Plan work procedures by following work orders for all operations listed.
  • Remove upholstery, accessories, and equipment to gain access to damaged areas of vehicles as needed.
  • Store parts properly to eliminate potential damage.
  • Mend damaged body and fenders by hammering out or filling in dents and welding broken parts, ensuring all gaps and fits meet industry standards.
  • Operate a variety of hand and power tools, including welders, cutting torches, and spray guns.
  • Fill depressions with body filler and remove damaged parts for replacement.
  • Reassemble vehicles after parts are painted, ensuring all gaps and fills meet industry standards.
  • File, grind, and sand repaired surfaces before handing over to the Paint Department.
  • Aim headlamps and repair or replace defective parts as necessary.
  • Inspect and test drive repaired vehicles to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Assist Service Advisors in assessing vehicle damage prior to repair.
  • Comply with all Caliber safety rules, guidelines, and standards.
  • Perform related duties such as washing cars, cleaning the shop, and assisting teammates.
