Pacific Power Group is looking for an eager and mechanically skilled Preventative Maintenance Technician to join our new location on Seattle, Lake Union. This position is a field-based preventative maintenance apprentice level position. The primary role consists of performing preventative maintenance on marine diesel engines. This is a great opportunity for someone who has some industry experience or has just completed university or trade school training in diesel engines. This is a role with opportunity to grow as a technician in the marine diesel field.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance on marine diesel engines.
  • Conduct oil service and coolant service.
  • Service sea water systems and battery systems.
  • Perform belt and hose service, drive service, and hydraulic steering service.
  • Conduct visual and operational inspections of equipment.
  • Pack and transport new and used engine fluids to/from vessels safely.
  • Communicate professionally with customers on-site.
  • Maintain cleanliness in yacht engine rooms.
  • Upsell extra services while on-site.
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment in the shop and field.
  • Document service and repairs accurately in vessel records.
  • Accept ownership for accomplishing new and different requests.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Must own a basic set of mechanic's tools (preferred).
  • Laptop/PC skills (preferred).
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Valid, unrestricted driver's license and insurable driving record.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in marine diesel engines or related field.
  • Completion of university or trade school training in diesel engines.
