About the position

The Emergency Department Technician at Temecula Valley Hospital is responsible for supporting the emergency care team by ensuring that all necessary supplies and equipment are available, assisting with patient care, and performing clerical duties as needed. This per diem position requires flexibility in scheduling, particularly for evening shifts, and involves direct interaction with patients and healthcare professionals in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assure all oxygen tanks are full and available on each gurney.
  • Stock all rooms with appropriate bedside supplies and linens.
  • Transport patients to ancillary departments as needed.
  • Assist RNs and physicians/PAs with assessments, examinations, and treatments as directed.
  • Assist the unit clerk with clerical duties as assigned by the Clinical Supervisor.
  • Report and document patient care performed in the emergency department information system.
  • Provide telephone services, including answering and directing calls, giving information, and placing pages to physicians.
  • Notify ancillary departments of need for patient services in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • CA EMT, CA Paramedic, CA CNA or Medical Assistant required, or currently enrolled in RN program with successful completion of 2 semesters of clinical coursework.
  • BLS certification (Current from AHA).
  • Basic dysrhythmia certification or obtained within 6 months of hire.
  • CPI Certification obtained within 90 days of hire.
  • Current Phlebotomy certification - State of California preferred.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Telephone, typing, and filing skills.
  • Basic computer systems knowledge.
  • Basic knowledge of nursing care terminology and functions.
