About the position

The Gathering Trainee Technician position is designed for individuals seeking to gain the necessary training and experience to become qualified Technicians within the Enterprise natural gas pipeline system. This role is crucial in ensuring that the pipeline gathering system operates efficiently, minimizing downtime and maintaining low gathering system pressures. The Gathering Technician Trainee will be involved in various operational and maintenance tasks that are essential for the smooth functioning of the pipeline system. This position not only prepares the individual for future roles within the company but also addresses the manpower needs of the field gathering system as they arise. In this role, the Gathering Technician Trainee will be responsible for coordinating system shutdowns for new connections and leak repairs, as well as maintaining line pressure through activities such as pigging, balling, and drip removal. The technician will also be tasked with lockout/tagout procedures, hydrate mitigation, excavation activities, and dew point monitoring. Additionally, the trainee will coordinate construction tie-ins, ensuring that all safety protocols are followed, including lockout/tagout, purging, and packing of pipelines. The position requires the gathering of accurate data and the completion of daily reports, which are vital for operational transparency and efficiency. The technician will also maintain pipeline right-of-ways and perform all associated operational tasks. Operating, inspecting, and maintaining high-pressure pipelines, valves, regulators, and related instrumentation in compliance with DOT and OSHA regulations is a key responsibility. Furthermore, the technician will manage the storage and transfer of pipeline liquids and monitor for any pipeline encroachment. Acting as a company representative, the technician will interact with property owners, other pipeline company representatives, and local public representatives, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate system shutdowns for new connects and leak repairs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is required.
  • Technical certification or equivalent training in a mechanical environment or energy-related field preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Basic computer skills including spreadsheet and word processing applications.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong decision-making skills and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to assume responsibility and be flexible under potentially stressful and/or hazardous conditions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Technical certification in a mechanical environment or energy-related field.
