About the position
The Technician III position in Campus Security & Preparedness at Front Range Community College is responsible for ensuring a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors across all campuses. This role involves routine patrols, monitoring security systems, responding to emergencies, and providing customer service to the campus community. The Technician III will also engage in investigations and enforcement of campus policies, as well as emergency response activities.
Responsibilities
- Conduct security patrols of campus and all College buildings and facilities on foot or by other means.
- Complete daily checks of campus access control doors, security cameras, and other security systems.
- Check secure areas for unauthorized personnel and deter crime and disruptions.
- Provide 'Open Up' and 'Closing' services for campus facilities.
- Maintain accurate activity logs documenting routine tasks during shifts.
- Respond to calls for service and perform safety escorts for campus community members.
- Assist with crowd control at special events and emergencies.
- Write complete and accurate reports of campus incidents and document follow-up activities.
- Maintain the campus' official Lost and Found section and return items to rightful owners.
Requirements
- Three years of work experience in security, campus safety, emergency preparedness, law enforcement, military, or other first responder experience.
- Must possess and maintain a current, valid State of Colorado Driver's License.
- Ability to engage with students, faculty, and staff to create relationships and trust.
- Knowledge of operating campus security cameras and emergency notification tools.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in customer service within a security context.
- Certifications in First Aid, CPR, AED, and Defensive Tactics.
