About the position

Moseley Technical Services, Inc. is seeking a skilled Technician - Integration Engineering II - B to join our team in Kent, Washington. This contract position involves precision assembly of rocket engines, where attention to detail and adherence to strict tolerances are paramount. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting detailed inspections of components using precision tools such as calipers and micrometers, ensuring that all parts meet the required tolerances of 0.0001 inches. Additionally, the technician will coordinate hardware processing tasks, including inspection, cleaning, and shipping, while managing hardware under critical cleanliness requirements, particularly for liquid oxygen service. Safety is a top priority in this role, as the technician will be required to work with hazardous systems that may contain chemicals and/or operate under high pressure. The technician will also assist engineers in reviewing design concepts and providing constructive feedback for improvements. Familiarity with assembly fixture tooling is essential, as is the ability to review and follow work instructions for complex mechanical installations. Responsibilities

  • Precision assembly of rocket engines
  • Detailed component inspection using calipers, micrometers, etc. to tolerances of 0.0001 inches
  • Coordinating hardware processing such as inspection, cleaning, and shipping
  • Hardware management under critical cleanliness requirements (liquid oxygen service)
  • Safely working with hazardous systems, containing chemicals and/or high pressure
  • Assist engineers in reviewing design concepts, providing feedback for improvements
  • Familiarity working with assembly fixture tooling
  • Review and follow work instructions for complex mechanical installations
  • Innovate to improve processes and increase efficiency of operations

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience with assembly of turbomachinery/propulsion systems, aircraft or automotive engines, or other highly technical machinery
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings
  • Ability to read and understand technical manuals/detailed work instructions
  • Strong mechanical competence with the ability to use hand and power tools
  • Ability to accurately use precision measurement and inspection tools
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Nice-to-haves

  • 5+ years' experience in propulsion assembly, integration, and testing
  • Associate degree in a technical field
  • Knowledge of precision inspection equipment
  • Experience with critical sealing surface requirements
  • Experience with thread insert installation and thread tapping tools
  • A&P license or equivalent experience in integration and test of propulsion systems
  • Experience operating heavy lifting equipment such as overhead cranes and forklifts on flight hardware
  • Experience with 3D measurement tools, such as Faro Arms/Trackers and Verisurf software
  • Knowledge in the use of 3D CAD tools (CREO is preferred), and ability to read and interpret GD&T per ASME Y14.5M-1994 standard
