About the position

The Technician Integration Engineering II role at Blue Origin involves assembling major launch vehicle structures and other spaceflight systems within a collaborative and safety-focused environment. The position is integral to transforming rocket manufacturing and operations, requiring a hands-on approach and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic team setting. The role offers various shifts, including weekend options, and emphasizes continuous improvement and learning.

Responsibilities

  • Manufacture, assemble, and test New Glenn (GS1) First Stage Booster according to written procedures.
  • Setup new production work areas, including tooling and equipment.
  • Assist with the transition from development to production, including the first articles.
  • Perform second-party verifications and hardware inspections of engineering models, drawings, specifications, and written procedures.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and correct malfunctions by modification, rework, repair, and/or maintenance.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for recurrence control.
  • Operate various material handling equipment including forklifts, overhead cranes, aerial lifts, and other ground support equipment as required.
  • Setup and operate a wide range of precision calibrated tools including torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers, and optical measuring instruments.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement projects for area safety and efficiency.
  • Perform routine maintenance functions such as daily clean-up of work areas to support 5S, FOD, and ESD.
  • Work collaboratively with teams of diverse skills, fields, and backgrounds.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in aerospace manufacturing, integration, or another relevant field.
  • Experience in at least one of the following: fluids and tubing install, instrumentation, and electrical harness routing, general Aerospace/Launch vehicle assembly.
  • Ability to interpret engineering models, drawings, specifications, written work instructions, and test procedures.
  • Basic digital literacy such as Windows, Microsoft Office, etc.
  • Ability to climb ladders/stairs and work in small, restricted areas.
  • Ability to perform repetitive work, including lifting of items up to 35lbs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Industry certification, trade school training, and/or degree in a related field.
  • Proven success as a 'hands-on' technical leader.
  • Experience in handling large aerospace components.
  • Experience in assembling large tight-tolerance structures.
  • Experience in new product introduction.
  • Experience in a team-based Lean Manufacturing environment.
  • Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma certification.
  • Ability to lift heavy items up to 50lbs.
  • Military experience.
