About the position

The Technician - Integration Engineering II position at Blue Origin involves working within a diverse team to manufacture, assemble, and test components for space vehicles, specifically the New Glenn First Stage Booster. This role is crucial in ensuring safe and repeatable space flight, contributing to the company's mission of enabling millions of people to live and work in space. The position requires technical expertise, leadership skills, and a commitment to quality, with responsibilities spanning from production setup to troubleshooting and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Manufacture, assemble, and test New Glenn (GS1) First Stage Booster according to written procedures
  • Setup new production work areas, including tooling and equipment
  • Assist with the transition from development to production, including the first articles
  • Perform second-party verifications and hardware inspections of engineering models, drawings, specifications, and written procedures
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and correct malfunctions by modification, rework, repair, and/or maintenance
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for recurrence control
  • Operate various material handling equipment including forklifts, overhead cranes, aerial lifts, and other ground support equipment as required
  • Setup and operate a wide range of precision calibrated tools including torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers, and optical measuring instruments
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement projects for area safety and efficiency
  • Perform routine maintenance functions such as daily clean-up of work areas to support 5S, FOD, and ESD
  • Work collaboratively with teams of diverse skills, fields, and backgrounds
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion

Requirements

  • 2-6 years of experience in aerospace manufacturing, integration, or another relevant field
  • Experience in at least one of the following: fluids and tubing install, instrumentation, and electrical harness routing, general Aerospace/Launch vehicle assembly
  • Ability to interpret engineering models, drawings, specifications, written work instructions, and test procedures
  • Basic digital literacy such as Windows, Microsoft Office, etc.
  • Ability to climb ladders/stairs and work in small, restricted areas
  • Ability to work at heights on work stands and in lifts
  • Ability to perform repetitive work, including lifting of items up to 35lbs

Nice-to-haves

  • Industry certification, trade school training, and/or degree in a related field
  • Proven success as a 'hands-on' technical leader
  • Experience in handling large aerospace components
  • Experience in assembling large tight-tolerance structures
  • Experience in new product introduction
  • Experience in a team-based Lean Manufacturing environment
  • Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma certification
  • Ability to lift heavy items to 50lbs
  • Military experience
