About the position

The Tube Technician III-A position at Merritt Island, FL, is a contract role focused on the manufacturing, assembly, and testing of the New Glenn (GS1) First Stage Booster. The technician will be responsible for following written procedures to ensure that all components are manufactured and assembled to the highest standards. This role requires setting up new production work areas, including the necessary tooling and equipment, and assisting with the transition from development to production, which includes performing first article inspections. The technician will also conduct second-party verifications and hardware inspections based on engineering models, drawings, specifications, and written procedures. In addition to assembly and testing, the technician will troubleshoot, diagnose, and correct malfunctions through modification, rework, repair, and maintenance. A critical aspect of the role involves performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence of issues. The technician will operate various material handling equipment, including forklifts, overhead cranes, and other ground support equipment, as well as a wide range of precision calibrated tools such as torque wrenches, micrometers, and laser trackers. Continuous improvement is a key focus, and the technician will be expected to identify and implement projects aimed at enhancing safety and efficiency in the work area. Routine maintenance functions, including daily clean-up to support 5S, FOD, and ESD practices, are also part of the job. The role may require working off-shift, extended overtime, and weekends as necessary. Collaboration with diverse teams and maintaining positive professional relationships are essential to fulfilling the mission and vision of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Manufacture, assemble, and test New Glenn (GS1) First Stage Booster according to written procedures.
• Setup new production work areas, including tooling and equipment.
• Assist with the transition from development to production, including the first articles.
• Perform second-party verifications and hardware inspections of engineering models, drawings, specifications, and written procedures.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and correct malfunctions by modification, rework, repair, and/or maintenance.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for recurrence control.
• Operate various material handling equipment including forklifts, overhead cranes, aerial lifts, and other ground support equipment as required.
• Setup and operate a wide range of precision calibrated tools including torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers, and optical measuring instruments.
• Identify and implement continuous improvement projects for area safety and efficiency.
• Perform routine maintenance functions such as daily clean-up of work areas to support 5S, FOD, and ESD.
• Work collaboratively with teams of diverse skills, fields, and backgrounds.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in aerospace manufacturing, integration, or another relevant field.
• Experience in at least one of the following: fluids and tubing install, instrumentation, and electrical harness routing, general Aerospace/Launch vehicle assembly.
• Ability to interpret engineering models, drawings, specifications, written work instructions, and test procedures.
• Basic digital literacy such as Windows, Microsoft Office, etc.
• Ability to climb ladders/stairs and work in small, restricted areas.
• Ability to work at heights on work stands and in lifts.
• Ability to perform repetitive work, including lifting of items up to 35lbs.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
