About the position

The Technician Integration Engineering III position at Blue Origin is a critical role focused on the manufacturing, assembly, and testing of the New Glenn First Stage Booster and other spaceflight systems. This position requires a commitment to safety and quality, as well as the ability to work collaboratively within a diverse team. The role is essential in transforming the way rockets are made and operated, contributing to the company's vision of enabling millions of people to live and work in space. The position operates on a C Shift schedule, requiring flexibility and the ability to work overtime as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Manufacture, assemble, and test New Glenn (GS1) First Stage Booster according to written procedures
  • Setup new production work areas, including tooling and equipment
  • Assist with the transition from development to production, including the first articles
  • Perform second-party verifications and hardware inspections of engineering models, drawings, specifications, and written procedures
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and correct malfunctions by modification, rework, repair, and/or maintenance
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for recurrence control
  • Operate various material handling equipment including forklifts, overhead cranes, aerial lifts, and other ground support equipment as required
  • Setup and operate a wide range of precision calibrated tools including torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers, and optical measuring instruments
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement projects for area safety and efficiency
  • Perform routine maintenance functions such as daily clean-up of work areas to support 5S, FOD, and ESD
  • Work collaboratively with teams of diverse skills, fields, and backgrounds
  • Other duties as assigned or otherwise beneficial to fulfilling the mission and vision

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in aerospace manufacturing, integration, or another relevant field
  • Experience in at least one of the following: fluids and tubing install, instrumentation, and electrical harness routing, general Aerospace/Launch vehicle assembly
  • Ability to interpret engineering models, drawings, specifications, written work instructions, and test procedures
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Basic digital literacy such as Windows, Microsoft Office, etc.
  • Ability to climb ladders/stairs and work in small, restricted areas
  • Ability to work at heights on work stands and in lifts
  • Ability to perform repetitive work, including lifting of items up to 35lbs

Nice-to-haves

  • Industry certification, trade school training, and/or degree in a related field
  • Proven success as a 'hands-on' technical leader
  • Experience in handling large aerospace components
  • Experience in assembling large tight-tolerance structures
  • Experience in new product introduction
  • Experience in a team-based Lean Manufacturing environment
  • Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma certification
  • Ability to lift heavy items up to 50lbs
  • Military experience
