About the position

The Technician (Journey Level) position at Pacific Power Group involves servicing customers by performing overhauls and maintaining diesel engines in marine applications. This role requires both field and shop work, ensuring operational stability across vital industries such as military, defense, and global supply chains. The technician will be responsible for conducting inspections, diagnostic tests, and maintaining accurate documentation of service and repairs, while also providing guidance to apprentice technicians.

Responsibilities

• Conduct inspections and diagnostic tests to determine unit condition.
• Complete engine overhauls and repairs identified during diagnostics.
• Verify performance through sea trials and make necessary adjustments.
• Maintain accurate documentation of service and repairs.
• Communicate professionally with customers on-site.
• Provide guidance and training to apprentice marine technicians.
• Complete work logs in a timely manner with all relevant information.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 5+ years of experience in a related field.
• Strong laptop/PC skills.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to visually diagnose mechanical issues.
• Fluent with electrical multi-meters.
• Thorough understanding of diesel engine electronic controls.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Technical schooling is a plus.
• Experience with marine large bore diesel engines is a plus.
• Strong MTU experience is a plus.
• Experience with Diasys software is a plus.
• A Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card is a plus.
