About the position
The Technician-Medical Laboratory position at Baptist Memorial Health Care involves utilizing laboratory skills to perform and report results of defined laboratory procedures, ensuring optimal patient outcomes. The role requires responsibility for assigned shifts, with the possibility of overtime and callback duties. The technician will also engage in various tasks as assigned, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the laboratory operations.
Responsibilities
- Receives, identifies, organizes, and prioritizes specimens to ensure accurate and timely test processing.
- Performs and reports requested laboratory procedures.
- Performs quality control, proficiency testing, and routine instrument maintenance and inventory control.
- Evaluates positive patient identification to reduce analytical and post-analytical error and/or adverse patient outcomes.
- Supports lifelong learning.
- Completes assigned goals.
Requirements
- Preferred: Hospital experience preferred.
- Minimum: No experience necessary, but must have completed accredited MLT program.
- Minimum: Temporary state licensure and/or national registration or certification in concordance with current federal and/or state regulations. Full required licensure must be obtained within six months of hire date.
- Minimum: Basic computer literacy.
