About the position

The Technician position at FedEx involves providing timely and cost-effective repair and maintenance for a fleet of vehicles, including tractors, trailers, and forklifts. The role requires performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs while ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company policies.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative and routine maintenance on tractors, trailers, forklifts, and other equipment.
  • Conduct basic diagnostics to identify issues and make necessary adjustments for safe operation.
  • Collaborate with other technicians on maintenance and repairs.
  • Document all maintenance performed accurately, both in writing and electronically.
  • Conduct safety inspections of equipment and document findings.
  • Perform paint and body work on vehicles as required.
  • Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma (or GED) preferred.
  • One year of experience in vehicle maintenance or a vehicle maintenance certificate from an accredited vocational/trade school or completion of the FedEx Freight Apprentice Program.
  • One or more Medium/Heavy Truck ASE Certifications and Class A CDL preferred.
  • Possess necessary tools to perform assigned tasks.
  • Valid driver's license may be required depending on work assignment.
  • Knowledge of testing equipment, gauges, and tools for vehicle troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Basic computer skills including maintenance programs and diagnostic systems.
  • Basic knowledge of gas and diesel engines.
  • Familiarity with precision measurement instruments and lifting devices preferred.
  • Ability to frequently lift components weighing approximately 110 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to safely operate vehicles with manual and automatic transmission.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic written and verbal communication skills.
