About the position

The HVAC/R Technician position is responsible for ensuring the financial sustainability and operational efficiency of HVAC/R systems within the organization. This role involves compiling and reporting budget information, managing equipment requests, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, and maintaining HVAC/R systems through troubleshooting and preventive maintenance. The technician will collaborate with various stakeholders to identify priorities and implement business solutions while adhering to company values and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Compile and report budget information for HVAC/R systems.
  • Request replacement HVAC/R equipment and submit warranty claims.
  • Review journals and invoices, and conduct price comparisons for parts and travel-related costs.
  • Develop scopes of work for HVAC/R projects such as rooftop units and condenser coil replacements.
  • Collaborate with management, co-workers, and customers to identify HVAC/R priorities and deadlines.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local HVAC/R regulations by conducting inspections and making repairs.
  • Perform work according to OSHA and EPA regulations, reclaiming ozone-depleting refrigerants as necessary.
  • Complete and submit required paperwork including expense vouchers and refrigerant logs.
  • Manage refrigerant levels and parts inventory to ensure resources for HVAC/R maintenance and repair.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, maintain, and repair HVAC/R and EMS equipment, performing preventive maintenance as needed.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on HVAC/R best practices and improvements.
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders to identify business needs and implement solutions.

Requirements

  • Vocational or Technical HVAC/R certification and 2 years of experience in mechanical maintenance or construction-related field for commercial HVAC/R and building controls, or 4 years of experience in a related field.
  • Type I/Type II EPA Certification for Refrigerant handling.

Nice-to-haves

  • Completion of a 2-year Vocational or Technical HVAC/R program.
  • Mechanical license in the city and/or state where the job is located.
