About the position

The Automotive Electronics Technician at Federated Service Solutions is responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting telematics systems in vehicles. This role requires a blend of technical, analytical, and communication skills to ensure optimal functionality of telematics systems, which are essential for fleet management, GPS tracking, and monitoring vehicle performance.

Responsibilities

  • Install telematics devices, including GPS and vehicle tracking systems, in vehicles.
  • Ensure proper integration of telematics systems with the vehicle's onboard diagnostics and electrical systems.
  • Calibrate and test equipment for functionality and accuracy after installation.
  • Perform routine maintenance on telematics systems to ensure they remain functional.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to telematics systems, including hardware malfunctions and software glitches.
  • Upgrade software and hardware as needed to maintain system efficiency and compatibility.
  • Maintain accurate records of installations, repairs, and upgrades performed on telematics systems.
  • Prepare reports on system performance, troubleshooting activities, and customer feedback.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Technical diploma or certification in electronics, telecommunications, automotive technology, or related fields (preferred).
  • Previous experience with telematics systems, automotive electronics, GPS technology, or related fields is highly desirable.
  • Experience working with vehicle electrical systems and diagnostic tools is highly desirable.

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong technical knowledge of telematics systems, including GPS tracking, vehicle diagnostics, and wireless communication systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and schematics.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills for interacting with clients and team members.
  • Proficiency with diagnostic software and tools.
  • Knowledge of vehicle mechanics.
